Francesco Beda (1840–1900) seems to have specialized completely in 18th century genre pieces. He was not alone, many of his contemporaries thought that beauty had left and the present simply wasn’t worthy of being painted.

This picture, Parlor Scene, was auctioned at Sotheby’s New York in 2004. Estimate was $50,000–70,000.
