From about 1740 to 1770, the taste for “chinoiseries” was at its peak. This fine armoire in rosewood and Chinese lacquer, located in the Salon de Musique in the Château de Compiègne, may thus be from that period. But unfortunately, unlike paintings, pieces of furniture are rarely signed and dated.
